There was a time when our continent looked totally different. Take a look around: imagine looking in every direction and seeing nothing but ice.
Under those conditions, even plants try to find more hospitable places to grow. And so it can happen that a plant that is native to the Himalayas can find itself next to a species from the Alps, and discover that it has a double that lives on the other side of the world.
That’s what happened with the Himalayan Edelweiss, which are very similar to ours, the Leontopodium alpinum.
