Have you noticed how many shapes the flowers of mountain plant have? Some, like the flowers of the Pan di Marmotta, are so small that you can barely see them; others, like the Fiordaliso, have such special shapes and colors that they instantly catch the eye. Finding a single pattern common to all these varieties is impossible. The perfect flower does not exist, but botanists have tried to imagine what characteristics it would have if it did. This type of flower should have petals, which we are all familiar with, but also the less known sepals: they are those leaves found at the base of the flower. Then, it should also have stamens, which are the male organs of the flower, formed by filaments on which the pollen grows, and finally carpels, modified leaves that are the female part of the flower, within which there may be one or more pistils.
