The Hypericum montanum is a common plant; keep your eyes open and you will notice its yellow flowers even at the edges of paths. You can extract a red oil from them that soothes burns: to get it you have to collect the flowers and let them soak in olive oil for forty days. Hypericum is also called Erba di San Giovanni (Saint John’s Herb), because there is a legend about the evening of June 23rd, the one that precedes the celebrations of the Saint’s day. According to this tradition, you must collect some branches of the plant, place them under your pillow and sleep over them: this way you will bring you good luck for the entire year to come.
